Ashlyn is one of my favorite characters of mine, mostly because her relationship with her twin sister is much like that of Saya and Dive from Blood+. (Ashlyn being like Diva.)

Nah it wasn't a super popular series, honestly. It's basically about two twins who are raised separately by two different people, one by a loving family the other by a mad man who sees her as a good way to get power. When the "evil" twin (Diva) starts to threaten the peace, the "good" twin and her battle. It goes on for a long time, and Diva even takes Saya's little brother, rapes and kills him, and as a result has his children. During their final battle, however, this insane shell cracks a bit and she is shown to be a loving mother who only wanted a family and to be happy with her sibling. It's really much more detailed ( and she's a lot different in the manga) but for the sake of simplicity that's basically it. Ashlyn and Evelyn are much like them, though they were raised by their parents, a psycho mistook Ashlyn for Evelyn and raped her at a young age, when realizing his mistake he was going to leave to find Evelyn when Ashlyn offered herself as sacrifice. He made her do many horrible things to her sister, and she deserted her family, he took away her ability to have children (when all she'd ever wanted was a big happy family.)but Evelyn never knew that Ashlyn only did those things to protect her. Now that said psycho is gone from their lives, Ashlyn is still too afraid of complete rejection to come forward with her sister and Evelyn considers Ashlyn insane, but still loves and cares greatly for her.
